and knowledgeable instruction to horses and their owners. Her professional training is offered in
dressage, all western disciplines, and hunter/jumper.  We believe in treating all horses the same from

each horse’s personality as well as their conformation.  This allows them to emphasize and accentuate
the strong points and strengthen any weaknesses.  Karen is encouraging and supportive of owners,
students and horses needs.  She is actively involved in all facets of our program and has successfully
shown horses in a wide range of disciplines.

Karen’s horse career began in South Florida approximately 38 years ago.  She
successfully showed horses in Western Pleasure and then went on to become
successful in the Hunt Seat divisions, excelling in Hunt Seat Equitation and
Equitation over fences.

Her passion today is Dressage—The Basis of All Riding Disciplines.  Karen trained
weekly for several years with Nancy Baker, a FEI trainer and instructor.  She feels
most of her success is owed to Nancy’s principles and methods of Dressage.
Karen also feels that continuing to educate herself brings back more information to
her students and horses in training.  Under Nancy’s tutelage Karen and Double
take successfully reached their 4th level goals in Dressage.  Karen continues her
education with intensive training in Portugal with Georges Malleroni, Director of
Escola de Equitaco de Alcainca and former student of Maestro Nuno Oliveria.  She
has trained with FEI Trainer Hokan Thorn a developing rider for the USA Olympic
Team.  She has had the opportunity to train in Wellington, Florida with world-
renowned horseman and clinician Philippe Davenport who brought Spain to the
Olympics in 1996.  Today, Karen trains with George Malleroni in New Hampshire
and Bill Woods of Ocala, Florida who help her and Indepen-Dance to continually
excel in their quest for performing in the higher FEI levels of Dressage.

In 1980, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resources and
Conservation at the University of Florida, specializing in Range Land Management.
Karen also has a Associates Degree in Ophthalmic Technology from the University
of Florida Shands Teaching Hospital.

Together Karen Orloff-Yatsko and her husband Harry B. Yatsko created Peaceful
Valley Equestrian Center, Inc. in 1994.  Their mission is to make horses and
horsemanship accessible to everyone; especially those who could not own their
own mount.
New for 2007,they have completed their second farm in Ocala, Florida.  The new
farm is now available for seasonal horse show boarding/training, lay-ups, and
broodmare care.  Located in close proximity to "Hits" Horses in the Sun, Ocala
Horse Park, Black Prong Combined Driving facility, and numerous other
recreational horse activities.

Karen specializes in Dressage – The Basis of All Riding.  She has high hopes for
her nationally known 8-year-old Warmblood Stallion, Indepen-Dance/*/*/  /  /  /.
Indepen-Dance was registered with the American Warmblood Society in 1999.  He
received the AWS Silver Medal Award in 1999 & 2000.  His Five Star Stallion
Approval was confirmed in 2001.  Recently in 2004, he won the AWS Bronze Medal
at the Dressage at Devon Horse Show.  Karen trains Indepen-Dance in the
Classical style of Dressage.  She believes that the in-hand techniques, which
began when he was 2 years old, is the key to their success.  Those same In-Hand
Techniques* she uses when training horses and in her clinics were published in the
May 2005 issue of Horse Illustrated.  The article was called “Hands on Help.” This
and the fact that her clinics are so well received, inspired the 2006 release of her
first DVD called “Riding Your Horse From the Ground™.”  The first DVD in her
series, Karen explains how to get started with these techniques that have been
passed down from the Great Masters of Horsemanship.  Karen’s expertise and
experience enables her to interpret and bring to modern horse enthusiasts her
interpretation and application of these techniques.  These training methods have
withstood the test of time.  And will benefit horses of all ages and riders of all
disciplines.  Karen’s training system has been described by many as a “Holistic
Approach” training your horses mind, body, and spirit while giving  horse owners
the opportunity to form special bonds of communication and mutual understanding
with their equine partners.

Indepen-Dance and Karen love to perform in demonstrations, clinics, and musical
exhibitions along the east coast.  They have participated in events such as the
Equine Affaire 2001 in Springfield, MA, the state Farm Show 2003-2006 in
Harrisburg, PA. They have been honored to participate at the prestigious Horse
World Expo 2003-2006 also in Harrisburg, PA.  In addition, both have performed in
several county fairs and parades.  The pair plan to kick off the Wissahickon Day
Parade in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia in April 2007.  Indy and Karen perform
musical exhibition rides in their Patriotic theme called “Salute to America” a classical
dressage ballet and “The Renaissance Review” where Indy becomes the Lord of
the Dance with Lady Katerina taking the audience back to medieval times.

Karen is a very talented and gifted teacher of horses and their people.  She is
passionate about what she does and shares all of her heart, soul, and knowledge
in everything that she does from her musical exhibitions to her seminars and
workshops.  New in 2006, the release of her first DVD called “Introduction to Riding
your Horse from the Ground™” is available for sale.

Karen is a member of the U.S. Dressage Federation and the USA Equestrian
Association.  She is also the PA State Director of the American Warmblood Society
and the Wyoming Co. Director in the Pennsylvania Equine Council.
